This is a lovely, funny picture book with some great word play. This would be a great read-aloud in EYFS settings and a nice independent read in KS1.
The story begins when Marco and Polo are left to look after their cousins. The letter gives chance to discussion how busy parents may feel and why they might need ME time.
Marco and Polo are a little too busy so they set out to employ a hamster sitter.
This is a nice writing opportunity to encourage letters and posters.
But the little cousins aren’t so easy to look after! Each babysitter has difficulty while Marco and Polo are off having adventures!
As mentioned before, look out for the word play. My favourite is lion dancing!
Eventually, the cheeky cousins meet their match in one babysitter.
