What the book club told us about the book:
Our School Review
What our pupils thought
“I liked how the magical beasts were woven in within the story. The companion animals were really cute.”
“I liked how it was not only a race for them to win, but also a race for them to save Eli’s grandmother. They had to work together to succeed, something that we have to do everyday.”
“I like Raven, she was awesome. Her character felt really relatable, look at all the things she could do even though she clearly had underlying things going on like all of us.”

What our educators thought
“I enjoyed the book – it was a bit of a slow read to start for myself however once the adventure was underway then it picked up pace. I think this would be a great one for a confident year 4 cohort especially if they were designing their own creatures and writing explanations for how to care for them or creating an adventure story of their own. My lower readers were really engaged, they enjoyed the element of fantasy.”
