Rudy and the Ghastly Gathering

What the book club told us about the book:

Rudy is about three ghostly friends. It’s someone’s birthday party but it all goes a bit wrong (they even end up having a slime fight). THEN someone disappears! This is an early chapter book; it has 98 pages set across six chapters. There are illustrations dotted throughout the book which make it more enjoyable. At the start of the book there is a map (we love a map!) and a character guide. This is good because you can get to know them before you read the book.

Our School Review

What our pupils thought

“It had a baby wolf cub in it and it was super cute!”

“My favourite part is when they throw SLIME at each other. It made me laugh!”

“The friends didn’t know whose dad had arrived and his neck was really long! He was tall. The illustrations made me laugh too.”

About the book club:

We have a book club on a Wednesday after school and are also starting to plan a lunch time club. It has 20 members and some are learning to be librarians too. We read books, share them and review them. We’ve even applied and won Blue Peter book badges!

What our educators thought

“There are themes of loss in this book but it also tackles friendship and family dynamics well too. It could be used in the classroom to give scenarios for friendships and problem solving. It also has great language and it’s precise with it.”
