What our educators thought
“These books are a perfect link to the EYFS curriculum, they promote pupils PSED skills by encouraging them to think of different feelings and being able to label those emotions. Reading the stories gave children time to consider when they have felt happy, sad, angry etc and know that these feelings are okay for everyone to feel.
We discussed how we might show these emotions and how people around us can help us if we are finding big emotions difficult. The books linked perfectly to supporting children’s transitions i.e. to a new year group and encouraged children to see these new transitions in a positive way. The books promoted positive discussion about friendships and relationships with others. They encouraged children to consider themselves as a friend, and how we can behave friendly and kind towards others and the impact of this. i.e walking over to a friend with a smile will encourage others to feel happy.”
