Our School Review

What our pupils thought

“We loved this story! It’s a funny book and we liked laughing at Flo doing all the farmer’s jobs wrong! We got to shout out ‘Oh No Flo!’ Every time she did something wrong which was fun.

Astrid loved the bit when Flo sheared the cat instead of the sheep.

Erica thought it was funny when Flo milked the sheep instead of the cow!

We all thought it was good that Flo wanted to help when the farmer was poorly, even though she didn’t quite get it right.

We also really liked looking at the pictures of the farm before and after Flo was in charge because we can see all of her mistakes!”

About the book club:

We share a story every week as part of our outdoor learning sessions, sometimes the children choose, sometimes it’s me, this time we took the story out side and enjoyed the story in the sunshine with our nursery and reception classes.

What our educators thought

“This is a great picture book for EYFS children. Aside from the humour and the repetition of Oh No Flo, the illustrations are also wonderful! We spent ages looking at the pictures, telling the story through the pictures, and finding hidden animals etc, making up our own jobs for the farmer to complete on the farm. Obviously, there’s also the lovely message behind the story that although Flo made man y mistakes, she tried her best, and her heart was in the right place. What was really nice, was the children piping up with comments such as ‘she got it wrong this time, she just needs to practise more!’ They really took her good intentions to heart!”
