World of Wild: Off They Go!

What the book club told us about the book:

Off they go! Animal Migrations by James Carter and James Munro is a non-fiction book with 35 pages. It is a well-illustrated book focusing on teaching children about the migration of animals and humans through a rhyming text. The illustrations are colourful with excellent detail and bring the content of the book to life. The book focuses on a range of animals from Christmas Island Crabs to Humpback Whales and helps children understand some of the great migrations that happen on our planet. It is the perfect book for any animal fans!

“It’s amazing! It had fun facts on all of the pages and I liked how they described the animals.”

“I like how the book told us about animals that are far away from where we live. We could learn about the migration of animals.”

“It had rhyming words, which I liked and the adjectives to describe the animals were good. The page about the crabs was my favourite, it was funny.”

“I liked learning about different animals and places.”

About the book club:

Book Bugs Book Club is a new book club that is for children in year 2 but we are hoping to expand it to year 1 as well. We read the chosen book as a group, in pairs and individually during our weekly lunchtime meetings. We talk about what the children have enjoyed about the book, our favourite parts and what we would say if we were recommending the book to a friend. We try to read a range of fiction and non-fiction books and are always welcome to suggestions on what to read next, from the book club members! We like to meet in our wonderful library ‘The Hive’.



“I was so excited to read this book as we have a lot of children in year 2 that love non-fiction books, especially about animals and the world around them. The rhyming throughout this book makes it really enjoyable to read out loud, unlike some non-fiction books and the children commented on this feature too. The vibrant illustrations really make the book come to life and there were lots of “wow” comments from the children when they were reading it and exploring the illustrations. It is a great book for Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 and would be an exciting addition to any topics about animal migration. I will definitely return to this book and use it in class as a reading for pleasure text, writing stimulus or as part of our science learning and I know that many children will be eager to borrow a copy from our school library.”
