About Anna & Harry
Anna Wilson began her career as a picture book editor at Macmillan Children’s Books, but quickly turned her attention to writing her own books and has published over 50 books. Her children’s series, Vlad the World’s Worst Vampire has been translated into thirteen languages. Her latest picture book Grandpa and the Kingfisher was shortlisted for the Wainwright Nature Prize in 2023. As well as writing for young people, Anna has also published a memoir: A Place for Everything – my mother, autism and me. It has been reviewed as “a seminal work in this area” by the world expert in autism in women, Professor Tony Attwood. Anna also has extensive experience in teaching creative writing. She was an Associate Lecturer at Bath Spa University and is currently a tutor for the Arvon Foundation and the HarperCollins Author Academy. She is also a Royal Literary Fund Fellow.
Harry Woodgate is an award-winning author and illustrator whose books include Grandad’s Camper, Grandad’s Pride, Shine Like The Stars, Timid, Little Glow, My First Baking Book and The Very Merry Murder Club. They have worked with clients including Google, National Book Tokens and the Sunday Times Magazine, as well as publishers such as Bloomsbury, Walker Books, Andersen Press and Simon & Schuster.
Harry is passionate about writing and illustrating diverse, inclusive stories that inspire children to be inquisitive, creative, kind and proud of what makes them unique.
Their debut author-illustrator picture book, Grandad’s Camper, won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for Best Illustrated Book, Children’s Illustrated Book of the Year at the British Book Awards, as well as a Stonewall Book Award Honor from the American Library Association. It was also shortlisted for the inaugural Polari Children’s & YA Prize, and was nominated for the CILIP Yoto Kate Greenaway Award.

What to expect from the event
This interactive session with both author and illustrator will include a book reading and a fun writing activity with author, Anna. Then pupils can join in with a draw-along with Harry, illustrator, finding out about the illustrations in the book. Pupils will have the chance to ask Anna and Harry their questions, too. So grab your pencils and imaginations and join this fab event.
