About Nicola Colton
Nicola is an Irish children’s book illustrator and author. She grew up in rural Offaly, a childhood steeped in superstitions and stories, where fairies were as real as the cows in the field next door.
Jasper & Scruff, her first fiction series with Little Tiger, was one of The Guardian books of the month.

Nicola’s first picture book won the Irish Literacy Association award and was Hodges Figgis’ bestselling children’s book of the decade.
She also illustrated the Fizzy series by acclaimed writer and Irish Children’s Laureate, Sarah Crossan.
Nicola’s latest book series is Bertha & Blink.
Nicola is neurodivergent and was late diagnosed with ADHD. Though there are some challenges, she is proud of her fizzy, busy brain and ability to think in a non-linear way. She lives in Bristol with her partner and their gentle black and white cat, Odysseus.

Calling all budding inventors and doodle makers!
Join illustrator and author Nicola Colton for a fun, interactive session based on her new book series, Bertha and Blink. There will be a discussion of the characters, draw-alongs and a chance to design your very own gadget!

The session will focus on the fabulous series of Bertha and Blink, chatting about the first adventure, Bertha and Blink: Rumble in the Jungle, but will also give you a thrilling sneak peek at the brand new second instalment, Bertha and Blink: Take to the Skies, flying your way in January 2025!
